Trouble Scanning Your ID

Having trouble Scanning your ID?

Tips for Success

  • Place the ID on a dark surface
  • Use sufficient, natural lighting instead of a flash
  • Position Camera directly above the ID
  • Be sure that your shadow does not cover your ID
  • Position the Card to Minimize glare
  • Hold the Phone Still so the Camera has time to Focus
  • The scanner can quickly and easily read your license in most cases, but for the best results, place your license or passport on a flat, dark surface, like a table, and make sure there is no glare on your license. Natural light is best. For a driver’s license, position your phone so that the entire front side of the license is in the camera’s frame. The scanner will quickly scan the front and ask you to flip to the back. If it doesn’t, try slowly moving your phone closer or farther away to help the scanner focus on the license edges. Glare can greatly impact the scanner. Next, scan the back side of your license, focusing in on the barcode. The entire back side doesn’t need to be in frame, the scanner is just reading the barcode.
  • NOTE: If the barcode on your license is extremely worn or scratched, it will not be scannable.

Tip: In most states you can order a replacement ID online, to be mailed quickly to your home for under $25.00.
